The multi-platinum artist says it was a house full of animals that got him started on the cruelty-free path.
Moby recently penned a piece for Rolling Stone about how he came to be vegan. The electronic musician writes that as a child he developed close bonds with numerous dogs, cats, rats, and reptiles that were part of his household. During his adolescent years, Moby had an epiphany that all animals have feelings and emotions like his beloved cat Tucker, and realized that he was harming them by eating them, so he cut pork and chicken from his diet and followed with fish, and then dairy. Later he discovered the innumerable health and ecological benefits of following a plant-based diet. Moby notes that although he is passionate about veganism, he learned that forcing his opinions onto others was detrimental to the cruelty-free cause and his social life, but he urges readers and fans to inform themselves of the dietary implications of eating animals.
